Hints of a warm breeze cut through the crisp, dry air of winter, bringing with it a sense of hope and foreshadows of sunshine. Spring is nearing the corner, however, with spring comes a sudden stress that often shudders through school. Whether the anxiousness comes from PARCC testing, an approaching graduation, or just a sudden increase of work that needs to be done before the end of the year, springtime and school time don’t always mix well together. Here’s a list of ideas that can help you organize your priorities and tackle tasks without overwhelming yourself, so you can enjoy the warm weather and joyful aura of spring.
- Remember the Priorities- What comes first is what needs to come first, and the more looming a deadline or due date is, the more important it is. Always complete homework that is due the very next day first. Assignments due in two days should follow on the list of priorities, with assignments due in three days falling after those, and etc. Remembering what is most important is a key aspect to keeping up with homework and projects that may become overwhelming.
- Get Organized- Sometimes, one of the hardest tasks when work becomes overwhelming is simply remembering what you have to work on. Getting an agenda book or an organizer will help you substantially, allowing you to document what it is that you have to do and when, along with due dates and other information. With having an agenda, you can write information down so it doesn’t slip your mind, and you can always check to see what you have to do so you won’t forget. Colorful agenda books that can be decorated are available at Michael’s Craft Store, while cheaper, more simple ones can be found at most drugstores.
- Study, study, study- Unless you’re getting prepared for a state test or any other assessment that you can’t study for, you need to try not to slack off on studying, even though the end of the year isn’t that long away. Studying will help you maintain information for your tests and quizzes, which will keep your grades on a steady incline. Make a few flashcards and always look over your notes when studying, however, don’t stress yourself out too much, for then you won’t be able to focus well. Some flashcard apps are available for your phone, additionally.
- Relax- The most important thing to remember when you feel overwhelmed with schoolwork is to relax. Enjoy the fact that the end of the school year gets closer and closer with every day that passes, and that the workload will soon lighten. The key to getting through the stress of school is to relax, for you can produce the best quality of work when you’re relaxed.
Hopefully, this list helps you deal with the pressures of the upcoming months and the amount of work that will come your way. No matter if school stresses you out immensely or not, this list can help you maintain good study and organization habits, so school can remain stress-free. Whatever the upcoming months bring to you, may they be free of stress and anxiety, organized, and enjoyable!
